Scottish Rite Historic Art

Art inventory and appraisal project for the Scottish Rite

Overview

The Scottish Rite Historic Art project encompassed the appraisal of historic prints, fine art and artifacts documenting the history of the fraternal organization.

The items are rich with history of the early founders, presidents and others affiliated with the fraternal organization nationally and locally.

The building is Neo-classical Revival, opened in 1914. Over the years items were purchased, donated and gifted. The collection is specific to the fraternal organization and the founders.

Project Scope

The appraisal project involved a comprehensive inventory and assessment of the art and artifacts housed within the Scottish Rite building. Each item was documented, researched, and appraised based on its historical significance, provenance, and condition.

The collection includes historic prints depicting significant figures and events in the organization's history, fine art acquired over more than a century of the building's operation, and artifacts of historical importance to the fraternal organization and its members.
